Elementary students worked on short civics lessons during counseling class in the month of October. Students are too young to vote in the state and federal elections, but they can vote for school lunch! Upper elementary students were divided into three "parties" and created posters, slogans, and commercials to promote their school lunch option. Today, all elementary students voted for their favorite school lunch. We had voting booths, a ballot box, and "I voted" stickers.

REMINDER!!

Last night the West Nodaway FFA took four speakers to the Area 1 Fall Speaking Contests. All four members are moving in to Districts next Wednesday

Tonight our JH Boys and Girls Basketball teams will be playing in Union Star beginning at 5:30PM. There will be 1 Quarter of "B" Boys following the boys game. Go Thunder!🏀

Reminder : FAFSA presentation for all senior and junior parents. December 17, 5:00 pm, in the school library. Great opportunity to get your questions answered about college financial aid. Contact Mrs. Clayton if you plan on attending.

Red Ribbon Week brought a little science into elementary counseling classes. We looked at how things "change" and then can't return completely to their original state. Whether it was water changing color, solids expanding, air flow constricting, or liquids bubbling, once the reaction occurs, it's forever changed. Then we connected this to the concepts of Red Ribbon Week and how drugs and alcohol can impact the person.

Jilly & Payden reach the Diamond level earning over 75 AR points! Way to go readers!

7th Grade students walked downtown to visit different businesses in BJ and learn about the various career options there are in a small town. Thank you to IAMO, Nicholas Insurance, R Salon, Goff Grocery, and Farmer Supply for your hospitality.

3rd through 9th Grade students had a guest speaker today talk about cyber safety/security. JR Chaney with Midwest Data provided material on Roblox, TikTok, Snapchat and other online platforms as well as new AI technology. There were many good questions asked and lots of information learned! If interested in having some of the resources discussed, contact Mrs. Clayton for handouts.
